Aloha
everyone! My name is Dante and I would like to share my story with
you. I have been with my family since I was about six months old, and was
in Hawaii the whole time. My family calls me a "mystery dog" because they
aren't exactly sure where I came from. My mommy was out shopping, and I was
a stray puppy just wandering around lost and confused. And I happened to be
wandering onto the road when she was coming by. Then she saw me, petted me,
and picked me up and I knew we would be good friends. Then after a while of
searching and searching for my owners, no one claimed me, so I stayed for
good. My vet determined my approximate age and breed back then. Now I am
living a happy life, and on a beautiful island!
I love going down to the ocean for swimming, running through the grass,
digging holes in the dirt, lazing in the shade under palm trees, and
meeting new friends! I have another dog friend named Leilani, she's a
poodle mix and mommy always calls her my girlfriend. I always see her
wearing a lei, mommy has tried to get one on me, but that's not happening
anytime soon! I also live with a cat, who's name is Lily. We get along
pretty well, with the occasional fights involving a hiss here and a growl
there. And that's pretty much all my true fuzzy friends. Now, during a
typical day I just hang around home while mommy's out, then we she comes
home I always want a treat and a cuddle! Did I mention I will do almost
anything for a treat? I can roll over, sit, shake, speak, dance, beg, and
many more. I also do this cute little thing, if someone starts howling I
will eventually join in and howl along with them. At night I sleep with my
blanket on the floor, or hop up on the bed with my mommy and curl up at the
bottom or on the pillows. And on my walks I like to sniff everything and
run through the water on beaches!
I really love life, and I bring happiness to everyone who meets me, at
least that's what my family says. I love my family (both humans and fellow
animals) and they love me. We always say 'Ohana means family, and family
are always there for each other through everything.' I know when I'm with
my family, I'm protected and I protect them. And I have a place where I belong.
