Maggie
Mae is a survivor. She was one of 26 dogs in over-crowded outside
cages. The owner passed was and the dogs were found a week later, 24 dogs
were euthanized due to horrid conditions, dogs were starving, lacking
water and only the puppies lived, Maggie Mae was one of only two that lived.
That was in 2000, she is now a beautiful senior citizen living on a farm
in central Maryland with me. I was the lucky one to share my life with
her, hoping she has several more years to share! She is now at least
thirteen years old. I simply adore her! She is by far the sweetest, most
loving being! She doesn't like being alone, so she's never left.
I take her me whenever possible, but I never leave her in a car. She does
many tricks, she smiles on command as well as sits, gives paw (both), sit,
stay, down, stop, and others. She is the smartest dog I've ever seen. She
sits and walks by my side, I don't leash her. When I bath her, I will tell
her "Bath," she walks outside with me and will walk over to the bathing
set up, walks up the ramp and will sit! It's incredible, she know so many
commands. She looks and listens (you can see it in her face, she's
thinking) and between hand commands and voice she can always "understand"
what I'm trying to communicate to her.
I've been blessed to have her for twelve years, I hope she will be with me for
many more years. She's very special. I can take her to anyone's home and
she sits by my side and is totally content for hours. She likes all
animals, hamsters, birds, squirrels. I've never seen her aggressive to
anyone or anything. She's very unusual, she is just the sweetest, most
loving being. People who are around her always tell me how unusual she is,
that she almost acts human. The only thing she doesn't like is to be left
alone, so she stays with my Mother while I work, and she's never any
trouble. Her vets, groomers, anyone who is around her all adore her and
always says how dear she is.
That is what's so special about my Maggie Mae.
