These
are a few pictures of my dog Trixie Layne. She is a Poodle, Shih
Tzu, terrier cross living with us in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, but it
was not always that way!
We had the privilege of meeting her one day as she started to chase after
our van, although we knew from the start that she was someone else's dog
and we could not keep her. That did not stop the whole family from falling
head over heels in love with her. We did have a dog before her, a German
shepherd cross, Rerun, that had died four years ago this August. So after
we had this little puppy in our house for almost a whole day, falling in
love with her, we knew that if we could not keep her we had to get another
dog. She was returned to her owners eventually and we said our tearful
goodbyes, then got to work searching the web for our special puppy, when
really we wanted Trixie. So that night I asked my dog Rerun to please let
a miracle happen where little Trixie could spend the rest of her life with
us. The next day my prayer was answered, the owners called us up saying
that they wished to sell her to us. From that day forward she became our
little treasure, there is nothing she can do that isn't cute. To top it
all off we got her only days before my 21st birthday, so in a way she is
my best birthday gift ever. I thank Rerun every night, I know she was the
one who lead her to us and was I ever grateful.
You see, I was in rut so to say, and just depressed. I needed a friend in
my life that wouldn't judge me and now I have just that. She changed my
life around, made me laugh every day. She has such funny habits - such as
when she gets a big bone as treat, she needs to hide it in 1,500 different
places before she can sit down and eat it. Or how much fun it is to dress
her up, and for some reason she likes it. Things like taking her for walks
and having her growl at signs of some person we are suppose to vote for,
or having her eat from the cat's food and catching her do it, where her
answer is dropping the food out of her mouth and acting like she did
nothing wrong - these always makes me laugh. Being away for hours coming
home to her excited dance, where she wags her tail so much that her whole
body shakes as well ... this is all part of the fun of Trixie. Sometimes
she sticks her nose underneath my bedroom door knowing full well I am
eating in there, hoping I will slip something underneath or let her in.
The cute way she chases her tail so much that by the time she stops she
falls over by dizziness never fails to make me smile. She has done a lot
to change my life around, and I love her very much.
