Roxy
is an Australian Cattle Dog aka Blue Heeler. She has all the expected
traits of the breed. She wants to herd, is protective of her property,
wary of strangers and ready for anything that we might want to include her
in. She is also very affectionate to her family and people she has decided
are her friends. Nothing like a nice belly rub from a willing friend.
Being a herding type of dog, she needs lots of exercise and mental
stimulation. Roxy picked up obedience and the usual high five, shake hands
etc. very quickly. If you don't do a trick or command with her for a long
time, she still remembers the action first time out. She does basic
agility courses and is being trained for personal protection. Although she
is under 40 pounds, she will take a large person off their feet! She is
very fast and knows how to use her speed and agility to take on something
or someone larger ... maybe she thinks she's herding cattle!
Roxy's all time favorite activity is swimming. She will be in and out of
the pool as long as you keep throwing a toy in for her. She will dive and
swim and bring a toy back for you to throw again until you are worn out.
If I go in the pool with her, she will swim around me until I hang on to
her so she can pull me to the stairs.
Roxy is a great and active friend.
