Serena, the Dog of the Day
Name: Serena
Age: Three years old
Gender: Female Breed: Dog
Home: Australia

Serena is one of our family's loving and much loved dogs. We took her in when her old owner didn't want her any more due to her having fur/skin problems. A few medicated oatmeal baths and some TLC cleared it right up, and she now lives in her forever home with us.

The lady never said what breed she was, she just basically threw her at me and locked the door. Serena both sheds and needs haircuts, so we do not know what her mix may be, probably terrier and something else!

She's a lot better than when we first got her, in every way, not just her skin! She is happier and more friendly overall. And she even tied for first place with our other dog at RSPCA million paws walk - Short walk. We are glad she is happy here with us!

Serena can sit down, shake paws with us, clean her friends ears, is housebroken and hunts rats. Her favorite toy is a fake rat and she loves to play a strange game of tug a war with it.

Serena once even averted disaster. One of my sisters had left something cooking on the stove and forgot about it. I don't have a sense of smell so I didn't know something was burning, Serena kept pawing and making strange noises. Serena is a quiet dog and makes very few noises, so this startled me and immediately got my attention she lead me to the kitchen that was filling with smoke. Serena had lead me there just in time to to stop it from bursting into flames.

She is both affectionate and independent. She was a very fussy eater when we first got her and when she would choose to eat, it hand to be from our hands. Thankfully we have cured her of this. She no long is a fussy dog or needs to be feed from hands. She's happy to eat whatever is in her bowl.

There are so many stories I could tell about her but the most important thing is that she never gives up and is always there for us.
