Gershwin, the Dog of the Day
Name: Gershwin
Age: Eight years old
Gender: Male Breed: Saint Bernard
Home: Linden, Virginia, USA

Gershwin is a 170-pound (77 kg) lovable fuzz ball. He is a certified therapy dog with TD Inc. He works for hugs and kisses and he loves to be read to by children at the local library and elementary school. He's also a blood donor for Blue Ridge Veterinary Blood bank. They love to see calm, big dogs, and he certainly fits the bill. You can also see how much he loves the snow, but he's the opposite of calm then, running around like crazy.

His best trick is flinging slobber onto the walls. Yes, that part of the Beethoven movie is not an exaggeration. Recently, he "marched" in the local Christmas parade. He's a big hit. One good trick when he's out in public is for him to "get small" when he meets really little kids (or anyone who is afraid of his size). He lies down with his chin on the ground, and then rolls on his side to get his belly rubbed. He lives with two other dogs that boss him around, but he always seems to win at tug of war.
