Tuker, the Dog of the Day
Name: Tuker
Age: Seven months old
Gender: Male Breed: Beagle mix
Home: Olympia, Washington, USA

Tuker is one of the smartest and energetic dogs I have ever trained. He is my love and baby boy. He knows how to sit, down, stay, around (around handler and sit on left side), finish (sit on left side from front of handler), shake with both paws, spin both ways, roll over, put his paws up on box, and front (come). I hope that we will start competing in AKC events very soon.

I call Tuker my miracle puppy, for the reason I got him of course. In June my mom had decided that she was willing to let me finally buy my own puppy. So I started looking right away. I started looking on Craigslist because I knew that there were a lot of puppies looking for homes on there. I messaged a few people inquiring about their dogs and litters but no one was willing to lower their price to under $100. It took about five or six weeks for me to finally find a Cocker pup that the people were willing to go for a low price. I set up a date and when we were in the town of where the Cocker was they texted me back and said that it had just been sold. I was super sad and lost hope. So I posted a wanted add on craigslist for a puppy, then someone messaged me about a rat terrier mix. I messaged them back asking how much they wanted for the puppy and they said they were wanting 100 but I asked if they would be willing to go down to $80. They told me that they didn't think that their husband would mind. I was planning out a day so I could come and meet the puppy. The next day they texted me back and told me that their husband decided that they wanted $100 firm. I eventually gave up after that. I started looking for a bunny instead. A few days later I got a text from the same person with the rat terrier saying they saw my wanted post and it moved them. They said that if the puppy was going to a good home where he would be trained and showed, that I could have him for $80. I was so excited I told my aunt and she said that she would pay for half and I could pay for half. The next three days were a pain to wait for, ha ha! As soon as we got him home I clipped his nails, gave him a bath and played with him. That is how I got him and he became my miracle puppy.

Tuker is much like a Beagle! He lets his nose take him wherever a good smell is. It is a pain in the butt to try and train him to pay attention to me. He listens for a few seconds but then goes back to sniffing. Tuker isn't very vocal unless there is a cat outside the sliding glass door or he sees his reflection. He also bays when someone walks in the door. He is getting better at only barking once or twice then stopping. He loves everyone though!
