Achilles
first came to my boyfriend and I from up north on a reserve. He was
going to be killed along with his brothers and sisters, and the pups were
being handed out from the back of the truck. They had been feeding the pups
nothing but fish heads as they had no food for them. The poor puppy came to
us infested with lice, and beaten up from the other reserve dogs. We took him
home, got rid of the lice, and cleaned him up good.
He's a mix of German Shepherd, Husky, Akita, and Bull Mastiff. Since then
he's grown into a fine, funny, smart pup. He loves to steal slippers even
now, loves his orange teddy (even though it's almost lost its head now), and
he loves to sit on the beach and watch boats sail by. He sleeps in odd
positions ... and will pout immensely if you don't let him snuggle you on the
bed! He gets along exceedingly well with the cats and the rabbit, and will
sit there grooming them if they step into his vicinity. He's one of the pets
who has been with us through two moves now, and he loves snow. We found a
pile of snow outside a hockey arena the other day while walking home and he
ran to it and played in it for at least an hour. He loves summer ... but he
loves winter more!
