Riley,
at six months old, is a very happy and lucky puppy. He came from a
litter of ten puppies and, at four months old, he was one of two puppies left
that hadn't found a new home. What we didn't know when we went to see him for
the first time was that his owners' home had burnt to the ground just two
weeks before. Riley and his mom, dad, and sister were able to escape the fire
and run into the forest that surrounded the house. All the dogs were found
the the next day in good shape. So Riley had been living in a small
fifth-wheel trailer with three other dogs and his owners for two weeks when
we met him first.
He loves his new home with us, with lots of room to play and lots of doggy
friends in the neighborhood. He loves to play with kids too, and the kids
just love Riley. He is quite comfortable coming out in the boat with us,
whether it's fishing or just for a paddle, and he always has the best seat .
Riley also is friendly and gentle with our cat Cooper. Cooper wasn't too keen
on giving up his kingdom, but now they know each other, Cooper realizes that
the only thing that changed is that he has a friend to share his kingdom with!
