Meet Sophia Josephine Hunter, our terrier lab mix.
Sophie is very smart, loyal, protective and loving. She is an amazing
communicator with her facial expressions and body language. She was
found as a stray at about 22 weeks old in the dead of winter. She was
scared and starving. I was the only person she would go to without being
bribed with food. She protected me from imagined danger before I decided
to take her. She chose, and rescued, me.
She is so silly and does not like me
talking on the phone because she is not getting any attention so she
barks so I can't hear and I get off the phone. If I tell her something
she doesn't want to hear (like I'm leaving for a while) she will turn
her head and not look at me. For years she wouldn't let me take her
picture, she would turn her head and run away. I was never sure if she
was in the witness protection program or if she was Amish.
Sophie sleeps at my feet all night every
night and if I'm nervous or anxious, she goes into hyper protect mode.
She loves to get kisses on the cheeks so when you kiss one she turns her
head for you to kiss the other. She loves kids so much that she shakes
from head to toe when she sees one, but a lot of kids are afraid of her,
so she doesn't get to be around them much. She thinks she is too good
for tricks, she will only do a trick once or twice then when I try to
get her to do them again she looks at me like I'm nuts. I love her!
