Emma Grace, the Dog of the Day
Name: Emma Grace
Age: Deceased, Six years old
Gender: Female Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier
Home: Casselberry, Florida, USA

Emma Grace had a rough life. She was used as a breeder mom and then discarded. She received no interest at OCAS but anyone who met her only had wonderful things to say about her. The volunteers raved about her gentleness even though she was 70 pounds (32kg). They remarked on how calm and sweet she was. When Orange County went to spay Emma, they called the rescue to inform us that she had a large mass on her ovaries, suspect of cancer. They recommended putting her to sleep. I said "NO WAY!" They removed the mass and removed her ovaries.

When I went to pick Emma up, I took the mass to Dr. Rick for biopsy. Well the histopathology report came back as a malignant carcinoma. The good news is we hopefully got most if not all of the cancer out when the ovaries were removed. But because of the delicacy of this type of cancer there was no absolute answer to her end result. Emma recovered from her surgery was gaining strength every day. But she was adopted by the White Family, a loving home of a Loving family with a mother and father, a sister and a big brother and big sister to play with. Emma was happy with her new family, bonding right away and as ecstatic as can be. Sadly, though, after four short moths Emma had become bloated in her abdomen, after a visit to the vet, we found out she had internal bleeding along with cancer in her spleen. After attempting surgery to fix the problem, she wasn't able to make it.

The White family had a hard time saying goodbye to her on February 8, 2015 as she was put down, that being the right thing to do. We will miss her every day as she stole our hearts the day we wet her. Everyone has fallen in love as well the moment they met little miss Emma. It was a sorrowful day at the vet when she died, no one willing to eat and gloomy the rest of the day. Rest in peace, Emma Grace White we will miss you for eternity.
