Sasha
is a four year old AKC siberian husky who was born on Christmas day.
Sasha has striking blue eyes and a big heart. She is very affectionate, but
also very independent so any affection doled out is usually only on her
terms. She is quiet around the crowds, but quite the chatty Kathy around her
family. She loves the snow, and is an avid hiker, runner, and cuddler.
Sasha is my first husky and first dog, although I've grown up with other
types of family dogs as a kid. When I first went to the breeder, I fell in
love with her and her icy blue eyes. She was very friendly to me and knew
that I had to take her home. So friendly in fact that she kept pushing her
brothers and sisters out of the way to get to me.
The breeder originally named all her pups after greek gods and goddesses;
however, Sasha was so sassy that her breeder decided to name her Duchess
because she could be such a diva (still true today). When I heard the story I
laughed, but knew that I immediately had to change her name. It too me awhile
to come up with Sasha, but I thought it was a strong female name that is
Russian. It turns out it is the male nickname for Alex. I didn't do that on
purpose, since my name is Alex, but the name Sasha just stuck. If she's
really being a brat, we call her SNasha. As bratty as she can be, she is
extremely affectionate to close family and friends especially my girlfriend.
Sasha knows the following tricks Sit, paw, other paw, down, up, stay, leave
it, kisses, and most impressively, come. To get a husky to stay off leash and
reliably come back to you is a feat in itself, which any husky owner can
attest to. As for games, Sasha loves to play in the snow any chance she gets,
obviously she's a husky. Sasha also loves to mountain bike ride with me and
has gone up to 15-20 mile rides at a time. She loves to run! And we love her very much!
