Ratty was a rescue dog and is very happy with his forever home. When he was about three years old, his trachea collapsed and we had to take him to immediate care. He was breathing very heavily, and the vet had never seen anything like what Ratty had. We were devastated, and we thought we were going to lose him. While the vet worked on his throat, my family and I sat in the waiting room and waited for an explanation. When the vet stepped out of the operating room, she looked happy.
"Ratty is fine", she explained. "I put rings around the rim of his throat, so he can finally breathe normally again." We were delighted. "Now, he has to stay here for a few more weeks so we know that everything's fine." That was fine with us, we just wanted him to be okay!
Now Ratty is a happy dog and is yet again glad to be in his forever home. He is a busy, active boy, and does not let his past slow him down one bit! So the best time to get his picture is when he is resting, otherwise it is just a blur! So far he is living happily ever after!
