Maximus is a 6-month-old Siberian Husky I've been living with for the
past 4 months and boy, has he changed my life. He is very energetic and
rarely stands still for more than half a minute. He likes playing with
squeaky balls and playing tug-o-war with me or other dogs. He is
friendly with everyone and brilliant. He loves to eat is not at all
picky with his food. His best friend is my horse and he loves to follow
him around.
It was during the second week of March that I found Maximus in a
trashcan while taking out the trash. He was hidden under a couple of
bags but his weak movements from underneath caught my attention. At
first I thought it was a cat that had gotten stuck in the trashcan and
couldn't get out so I thought I'd take a couple of bags off to help her
escape. I never expected to see a small barely-breathing husky puppy
looking up at me with his fur dirty and his body trembling. I took him
home gave him a warm bath and took him to the vet. He had a mild skin
condition and was suffering from dehydration but he got over it quickly
enough. According to the vet, he was barely 40-50 days old when I found.
It was difficult at first. He was afraid to stay alone for longer than
five minutes. Even taking a shower was a challenge for me. He would lay
down against the door and cry. I had to talk to him while inside the
shower so he knew that I wasn't going anywhere. So, yeah. It was
difficult at first but soon Maximus was back to peak health and he
quickly became the energetic, happy puppy he is today and I don't regret
anything. Not the sleepless night, not the constant visits to the vet,
not the university lectures I missed.
He loves to run and has very strong legs and shoulders. Maximus makes
his Siberian ancestors proud since pulling is one of his favorite things
to do while on walks. He is a sled dog through and through. He adores
water and never misses a chance to take a swim everytime we visit the
beach. He loves to sneak under my covers to cuddle and practicaly melts
everytime I rub his belly.
He is the greatest dog I could have ever asked for and I wouldn't change
him for the world!
