Birdman the Labrador Retriever/German Shorthair Pointer mix, the Dog of the Day
Name: Birdman
Age: Seven and a half years old
Gender: Male Breed: Labrador Retriever/German Shorthair Pointer
Home: Montclair, New Jersey, USA

Birdman is a dog who thinks he's human. He enjoys watching people do human things like dancing, drying their hair, cleaning or just watching TV. He mostly hangs out with his brother Beauregard. We both felt Birdman should be nominated, as he is quite a character and an unusual dog. His face turned gray when he was two and we sometimes call him Sugarface. But that just adds to his good looks and amiable personality.

Although he is the fourth born of the litter (his brother Beauregard is the first born) he is a little smarter than his brother. One night in our suburban neighborhood he spotted a fox, got away from me and started running. After a minute he gave me a baleful stare as if to say "He's way too fast for me, Mom." He trotted back to me, so we went on our way.

My dogs don't really know any tricks although they respond to commands such as sit, stay, paw, etc. That's about it. However, when being petted on the couch Birdy will roll onto his back giving access to his soft underbelly.
