As child I'd always wanted a dog as a pet, but my parents told me me that taking care of me and my brother was already too much, so having a pet became a distant dream. But who would've thought that the main reason for my parents changing their mind in adopting a dog was my laziness. They told me that I should get out more often and their way of making that happen was to adopt a dog.
My parents asked me what breed of dog I wanted, and I told them I wanted a Husky because of my fascination with wolves during that time. Then we found out, it takes a lot of time to train and room to raise a Husky, none of which my family had. Crestfallen, I decided to go look for other breeds. Without any mention of it, one day my parents took me to the rural side of the Province (we were living in China back then), they told me that we were going to see out puppy for the first time. I was curious what breed they adopted for me. And there he was, Benson, lying next to his mother with his older brother right beside him (They were so cute together! The Veterinarian told us that Benson was a Labrador Retriever and that Benson and his older brother weren't even two weeks old. We had to wait two months before we could bring Benson home, and he was already a trouble maker (always stealing our shoes and gnawing on them). It took my family a long time to potty train him, and even longer to learn simple commands such as "sit," "wait," and "lie down."
Fast forward to present day, after we successfully brought Benson from China to the States by plane (which I can only guess wasn't a pleasant journey for him q.q). He's a very energetic dog who has a insatiable appetite (I swear there's a black hole in his stomach, anything he eats just disappears into that stomach forever... He even ate an entire plastic box just to eat the cupcakes inside. And obviously he's still quite the trouble maker, he's acquired a habit where he jumps onto the table to steal food while no one is looking.
Ever since he was a pup, Benson's enjoyed belly rubs. He also enjoys head scratches, so much to the point where I can make him fall asleep if I do it long enough. He also twitches during his sleep like he was having a nightmare, so much to where I just had to haul him to my bed so I can snuggle him just to stop him from twitching, which is probably the reason why he's grown accustomed to sleeping on my bed now. Every time he enters my room, he just lounges on my bed instead of on the floor.
