This is Oscar, a.k.a. Big Fuzz. Oscar is a 9-month-old Komondor puppy that is already well north of 100 lbs, though he still thinks he's an 8-week-old puppy and spends much of his time in the nearest lap.
He's becoming quite the celebrity in our town, from several restaurants, public parks and outdoor malls to Nieman Marcus and Nordstrom where he likes to go ride the escalators. He's passed his puppy good citizen exam and will soon take his AKC canine good citizen test. We chose a komondor because we wanted a very large, fluffy dog with no known genetic health problems to the breed, little or no shedding, a long lifespan, intelligent, easy-to-train and a gentle disposition toward the family cats, and Oscar certainly fits this bill.
Oscar lives inside and is decidedly an air conditioning dog, but given the heat in Austin (not to mention the grass burrs), we're not going to cord him anyway, but instead keep him in a puppy cut so he'll always look like a polar bear and a Bichon had a baby. We love this boy!
