When my father passed away, I desperately needed a companion to be by my side 24/7 and something to keep my mind busy and off grief, and my friends could only stay with me for so long. So Margo became a part of the family, adopted from the ASPCA. They had her listed as a Hound mix, though there may be some pit bull or other breeds in there, too!
The ASPCA didn't give her to me healthy unfortunately. What they said was a "small cough" turned out to be full blown pneumonia. Bill after bill, things kept looking worse, but I refused to give up on this dog and was determined to get her healthy. They told us to go to the hospital and that she might needed to be hospitalized, which would have cost up to $5,000+. Not being able to afford it, they gave us the option to euthanize her, but also offered a stronger medicine, but was not guaranteed to work. Already depressed, I was not sure if I wanted to take a chance just to be disappointed again. But if there was a small chance, I was going to take it. The medicine was enough for two weeks, and almost a week and a half into it, she began to show significant signs of recovery. That was a month and a half ago and she is fully healed and a happy bouncy puppy again.
Margo is special because she is a miracle dog and keeps me happy when no one else is around to cheer me up. She's gotten so heavy already, and she likes to lay on top of my back and wake me up while I'm sleeping on my stomach. I love her very much and hope to spend many long years with her.
