Pennylane is such a loving dog. She loves to be with her "people" no matter what we are doing. She is so good with the grand children even when they maybe are being a little rough with her. She loves belly rubs, trips to the park, car rides and naps!
We adopted Penny when she was three years old. She had been raised on a horse farm, and was not a house pet. When she was three, she developed a severe flea allergy which made all her hair fall out and gave her sores on her body. The allergy couldn't be controlled on the farm so she was returned to the breeder. The breeder knew that our dog of the same breed had recently passed away and called to see if we would take Pennylane. Well we did and the saga began!
Pennylane's lifestyle change was so extreme that she developed separation anxiety. If we left her alone she would chew everything up, poop and pee all over and destroy things. We crated her but that was an even bigger mess. We hired a trainer and tried several things to help Penny. Some stuff worked and some didn't.
Unfortunately we had to end up giving her medicine to keep her calm when she is left alone. She also has to wear a diaper when we leave the house because she will still go to the bathroom all over if she doesn't have the diaper on! She no longer chews anything up or is destructive. We deal with the whole diapering issue because Penny is such a good dog in every other way. She loves us unconditionally and constantly makes us laugh!
