We first got Daphne when she was five years old as a rescue, she was a foster at first, she came to me and my siblings as a surprise and we fell in love with her. We soon came to find out that she was extremely food driven and liked to compete for it. She and Junior (our senior beagle) got along well with each other, since Daphne was laid back and calm and he was old.
We were debating re-naming her Morgan, but she stayed Daphne! We moved around from apartment to apartment and Daphne has been through them all. She and Junior were the best of friends and they loved each other so much.
Then Junior died from old age and Daphne was left alone for about three days before we came home with a six-month-old puppy by the name of Jazzmine. From an old beagle that wouldn't bother her, to a little puppy that wouldn't leave her alone. Daphne was pretty dang irritated, and before that, Daphne was very owner protective.
Jazzmine and Daphne were quick to bond and Daphne eventually became Jazzmine's adoptive mother. Before Jazz came along, Daphne had been showing her age, but now, a year or so later, Daphne has never been younger, she plays, she runs and she's more active.
And she is still indestructible. Daphne has had a lot of chocolate, got into protein bars, Reese's cups, pizza, sandwiches, trash ... and she still hasn't died yet. It's crazy! If you ever leave Daphne alone in a room that has a trashcan, I can guarantee you, she will eat it.
She also has a fear of small animals yet will chase them if they are running away from her, but we have this one rabbit that loves her so much and will lick her ear constantly! On top of that, Daphne found a scorpion once and almost got stung, she also survived Valley Fever and is still living on strong today.
