Dezi, also known as Sormovskaya Zarya's Dark Desire, is a fourteen-month-old Caucasian Shepherd dog who lives near Houston, Texas. We imported her from Russia last year, from a wonderful breeder who has raised them for over twenty years. Caucasian shepherd dogs are best known for their capacity as property guardians, a job which they are very much attuned to. They are strong willed, stubborn, and very independent dogs, and don't care much for strangers. You best have zoo quality fencing if you own these guys, as they are highly intelligent, unbelievably strong, and apt to be escape artists. This, combined with their tendency towards stranger aggression, can be a liability in residential areas, and they make a better farm or country dog for that reason.
Dezi herself is still very much a puppy at her age, and shows it by being a rambunctious ball of energy. She's an enthusiastic learner and razor smart, but of course that stubbornness is very much apparent. She's definitely a diva sometimes, but has a sweet side too. She and my daughter have a very close bond and I look forward to watching them grow up together. We love her very much.
