This lovely dog is Laica which I have adopted four and a half years ago. I was looking for a German Shepherd but wanted to rescue a dog so I found a website that rescued dogs from informal settlements. I contacted them and told them what I was looking for and they sent me a picture of her, she looked so sad so I had to meet her. When I met her she was very scared and wouldn't even wag her tail at me, she would just lie on the grass and look at me. I knew then she needed to come home with me to get lots of love and groceries. Since then she came out of her shell a lot she is such a bouncy dog that loves water. She tends to be scared of people still but if she get to know you she is fine. I got her name when I took a photo of her with my camera and on the lens was written Laica and I thought it suites her. She is not as big as a purebred German Shepherd but seeing as we don't have a large flat it's a perfect fit!!
I was also surprised at how smart she is, in the first two months I taught her six tricks with such and ease and at the moment she is learning to stay. One day I just realized she can stay by just telling her to sit, so now I am just teaching her the correct word and the hand signal.
I am so happy I got her as I am so much more active now as every day we go for a jog or if I am lazy for a nice walk. She tends to also be much calmer when she gets her excersice.
My boyfriend who can be quite difficult even loves her so much, not that he would say it out loud. When I am not looking, he will throw a blanket over her or give her a treat or just pet her. She even turns out to be a good guard dog, when people comes to our door she makes sure they know that she is here to look after us.
