Sarge is a rescued dog from the Animal Control Center. We missed our camping trip on Labor Day Weekend 2008 to pick him up from the shelter. Since that day, he has become an integral part of our family. He's such a loving dog, but he's also an excellent watch dog. He weighs in about 90 pounds now and people tend to stand clear when he's at the gate. What they don't know is that he's a lover, not a fighter. This boy loves to eat! We have to watch him or he'll eat all day - and I don't want a roly poly Shepherd. He was very quiet for the first four months we had him. He wouldn't chase a ball or anything. I bought a Kong toy, and since then, he's all about running and chasing the Kong!
He's such a wonderful boy, and we love him dearly. Our other Shepherd is named Nikita. She's also a rescued dog. She's the silver colored Shepherd in the picture. She is such a wonderful girl also. We got her as a very sick puppy with numerous medical problems. She responded well to the medications and love, and now has turned into a spoiled girl too, with Sarge as a watchful big brother.
