Binx was originally bought by my friend's mother who gave him as a gift to her brother and sister-in-law. However, she had no idea that giving them Binx would be a mistake. It's in an Italian'Greyhound's nature to tear things up when left alone and bored and Binx is no exception. When they went out, they refused to put Binx in a crate and he therefore ripped up everything. It finally came to the point where they were going to have him put down, but lucky for Binx the disaster known as hurricane Katrina hit. The family had to move out and therefore could no longer take care of Binx. They gave him back to my friend's mother and she (already having three dogs) immediately started looking for a new family for him.
It took her a while, but eventually I went to a party at my friend's house and when my mom saw him it was love at first sight. She took him home to see if he got a long with our other dog Jake and they did! We have now had Binx for many years, and he's just been a joy since the day he arrived. He is a sweet dog, and wants nothing more than a soft bed, people to play with, attention and affection. He's one of the few good things to come from Katrina.
