I got Shanter when I was only seven years old. From the very beginning we shared a special bond. He loved to be brushed and would wait up every night for me to brush him and get his treat.(That's what he looked forward to, to be honest!) Shanter loved to go on walks and when he was just a pup he went on a long hike with us to Table Mountain in the Grand Teton Mountains. We almost lost him chasing a bag over a cliff! He also loved to play with our two cats Jasper and Rikki. He loved Jasper the best and would always get a little cleaning from him each day.
Although Shanter suffered from health problems in his life, he was always happy and loved attention. He taught me so much about how to be a proper dog person, and about life. This is the best picture I have of him, though I know it is not great. He passed away when he was 13, which may seem old, but it's never long enough. I miss him very much, and will remember him forever.
