My dog's name was Bula, she of the amazingly long ears and big brown eyes. She lived with me in Wisconsin, and we also called her Bula the Barking Bassett. SHer breed is known for their loud "musical" baying, and Bula took that seriously - when she got going, she could probably be heard a mile away1
She was not a show dog, and she had no records, but she didn't need any. She was just our dog. She loved her food and loved her mom and dad, and we loved her very much. There is nothing like the love of a hound, and she certainly taught us patience, as going for a walk with her meant a lot of waiting and going slowly while she searched out every little scent. She followed her nose always, we just got to hold the leash and be with her. We love her still, and will never forget her.
