I
have had Alex since he was eleven months old. He bonded with our family
right away. I am the Humane Officer for our county and use Alex often
for class demos. He teaches the children animal safety. Alex loves to
show off his obedience. When Alex turned two years old, we went to the
K9 police academy. Alex is now a certified full-utility police dog.
He is the only Doberman in the area to achieve this. We now also work
as a team, doing drug searches, tracking, and anything else the
agencies call for us to help them with. Alex also knows German
commands.
Alex has a son, who hopefully will follow in his footsteps. Alex knows
so many words that sometimes we have to spell them around him. His
favorite TV show is Cops. Whenever it comes on, he can be in the
other room, and as soon as he hears the start of it, he runs in and
lies down right in front of the TV. I have had friends over here when
this happens and they can't believe it. When there is a K9 unit on
TV, he always joins in the barking. He only does this when he hears
the special bark that K9 units do. Alex is my best friend, and always
will be.
