Suzie
and Mandy are sisters, they have the same parents but are from
a different litter six months apart. Suzie's birthday is July 1st
(Canada Day!) and Mandy's is January 29th.They get along great,
except when Suzie decides to chase her sister around the dining room
table, and then downstairs where Suzie won't let Mandy come up for a
while. They both love to go for walks, and especially car rides to
our cottage where they like to chase chipmunks.
Suzie is the friendliest of the two, she loves everyone, especially
if you scratch her back! She loves to lick and jump up for the first
few minutes of greeting someone, but then she settles down. Kids
just love to come over and pet her when we're out on a walk, and
she's very tolerant. She's not a lap dog, she prefers to sleep
beside you on the couch. Whenever any one comes to the door, she
barks and gets all excited for about five minutes, then she settles
down.
Mandy is more timid, but she isn't mean. She just sort of stands
still when anyone approaches her when out walking, but she likes to
be petted. Mandy is a lap dog, she likes to sleep on your lap or
next to you in the chair or on the couch. Like Suzie, she gets
excited when someone comes to the door, but only for a few minutes.
Suzie is usually the more dominant one. Her favorite pastime is
chasing Mandy around the dining room table where she usually corners
her and barks at her before Mandy escapes to the basement for a while
(Mandy is fascinated with the noise we make walking across the floor
upstairs, so she'll sit and stare at the ceiling downstairs for a
while until she thinks Suzie isn't looking). The only thing that
Mandy doesn't back down from is her wicker bed that she sleeps in
(Suzie has one too). Mandy will not let Suzie in her bed, but it's
ok for Mandy to get in Suzie's bed whenever she wants, and Suzie
doesn't mind. They're like two kids, only they can't talk! (They
don't need to, one look and you know what they want!)
They have a daily ritual as well. They get a cookie after dinner at
6:00 pm, and they go outside one last time for the day at 9:00 pm
before going to bed. You could almost set your watch by them!
They're a real joy to have around and great company.
