I
got Jake from a pound in Rhode Island when he was eight weeks old. I
found out about him through the want ads under the $50.00 or less
column, next to an ad for a treadmill that "works O.K."
With a big tick on his head, and his yelping and carrying on, I just
couldn't pass up this pitiful creature.
Jake has turned out to be the most gentle and loving dog I could ever
wish for. What makes Jake special is his love (or you could say
obsession) with tennis balls. He has a ball in his mouth from the
time he wakes up until he goes to bed. Sometimes he falls asleep
with a ball in his mouth. Luckily my girlfriend's mom plays plenty
of tennis. She scopes out the garbage cans at the tennis courts and
is Jake's main supplier of balls. Some people might think those
balls are out of life and belong in the garbage, but to Jake they
have a whole life ahead of them.
