Winifred
turned twelve years old in July. She attained her
degree of Champion with the AKC before she was sixteen months old.
If you need advice on stress management, you should see Winifred.
She manages the boys with minimal effort and has trained her humans
to serve her every need. She occasionally spends the night with our
favorite neighbors, Bernice and Herman, who have been included in
her close circle of dear friends.
Willie is Winifred's son. He will be eight years old this
year. Both Willie and Winifred are Miniature Schnauzers. Willie is a
type A personality and worries about details. Since he is a "middle"
canine, he is also one who tries harder to be noticed. He is
obedient and energetic. If you need a little motivation, Willie is
surely the one to see!
Ulrich is the youngest and will be five years old October of
1998. He is a Standard Schnauzer who loves nature and, when not
outside admiring the birds and squirrels and rabbits in our yard, he
enjoys sifting on his piano bench so that he can peer through a
window and keep tabs on his friends flying through the air, climbing
trees or hopping through the grass. Ulrich considers curiosity and
the experience of fun to be a great importance. If you are in a rut
or feeling a little down, Ulrich could certainly show you the sunny
side of things.
We rely on Winifred, Willie and Ulrich for our entertainment,
motivation and mediation. They are also expert at prioritizing. We
humans have found that we do not need a television with these three
in our home. Some classical, jazz or Big Band music, a good book and
a cozy quilt are the extras we add to their antics for some quality
leisure time. If you are considering an addition to your family, a
Schnauzer would be an excellent choice!
Winifred weighs about 11 pounds and her son, Willie, weighs about 17
pounds and Ulrich weighs 42 pounds. They did just have a haircut.
Schnauzers can be stripped (plucked) or clipped. Winifred was stripped
when she was shown for her championship title but now they are all
clipped.
I am working on my Master's in Counseling and my dogs love to help me study.
As soon as they see me get my books, they jump onto the chaise and take
their positions. Winifred snores, so she is usually asked to sleep a
little further away, Willie holds my book so these bifocalled eyes can
read and Ulrich keeps my feet warm.
If I am using the computer, the dogs stretch out on the chaise and
sleep. They know the sounds of log-off and will give a little yelp and
stand by the door of the room to see what we are going to do when the PC
shuts down.
