Brutus
deserves to be the Pet of the Day because he leads a
"dog's life." The second in a litter of three males, Brutie was
delivered on the family room couch, which I had draped with old
quilts. He sleeps in bed like a person with his head on the pillow
and his body under the covers. Sometimes he even sits on a chair
with his chin on the table while we eat. (What would company think?)
When I load the dishwasher, he hops up on the door to lick the dirty
dishes. We knew we could only keep one pup out of the three in the
litter and it was apparent from the start which one that would be
because he and his mother Ginger shared a special bond. He would
lay across her neck when he slept while the others stayed nestled
near her tummy. She reciprocated by licking him more than the
others.
Brutus has a winning personality and is very loving. Everyone
says there will never be another dog like him. He likes to hunt, is
a great protector, and takes his post as the "white sentinel" on the
deck every morning at 5 a.m. Not only is Brutus the Pet of the Day,
he is the Pet of the Century!
