My
dog's name is Topi (Finnish for Thomas) and he is a
purebred long-haired Dachsund retriever. He is three years old on
March 29, 1998. We live in Gävle, Sweden, although he is from Uppsala,
Sweden (where I attend University). He is so very special to both
my fiancée and I. He is a good friend, a warm companion and a great
animal to be with. He noses himself under the covers when we need
warmth (he measures exactly one meter long from nose to tip of the
tail) and looks at us when he wants to comment on something in that
special way dogs do.
His most loveable aspects are for example his
quirk of rubbing all over the rugs when he's wet and carrying his
water dish when he wants us to fill it. He also loves to drag
himself along the ground and stretch himself out to his full length
like a cat. He also adores digging holes at the slightest urging from
either myself or my fianceée. He is world's best guard dog (he barks
when the door rings or someone comes in the room) and is just great
with our three cats. He is a best friend to our youngest cat, Gandalf,
they love to play and roll around on the floor together!
He is a hunting dog and has an amazing ability to see and follow birds from
a mile (at least!) away. (We are vegetarians, so he doesn't
really get to hunt, just chase :)
