About
a year and half ago, I started searching the Internet
contacting Basset Rescue Foundations across the New York State for a
basset hound to adopt. After weeks of hard work, I began to lose
hope. Finally I was contacted and the animal shelter not three blocks
away had a basset for adoption who was six months old. I fell in love
with him right away.
He really doesn't do too many tricks, but he has a few amusing
habits. I can't remember the last time I sat on the couch without 68
pounds of him sitting on top of me. He will fetch the ball, but his
favorite thing to do is eat. So far, I haven't found anything he
won't eat, even fresh vegetables and fruit. Anything that falls to
the floor is quickly gobbled up.
I went to the park a couple of weekend ago and was able to get
Chester to go swimming. He was pretty nervous at first, but when he
saw other dogs try it, he dove right in. He is the most loving animal
I have ever had. He loves to meet new people, and is very gentle with
anyone he meets.
We tell Chester he's a spoiled brat, just because he whimpers when he
does not get his way and he likes to spend his time sleeping on
someone's lap.
