This
is my dog, Dexter... or Dextah if you're from Maine like us.
Dexter resides in Saco, Maine with his eighteen-year-old brother
Fluff, a Maine Coon Cat. Dexter absolutely loves the water and his
webbed feet make him an excellent swimmer. He is the kindest, most
gentle dog anyone could ever ask for. He also acts as our alarm dog
by waking us every morning at 6 am by entering our bedroom and
nuzzling us with a cold wet nose....his wagging tail thumping against
the wall gives warning that the nose is next.
Dexter is a wonderful dog. Although he looks like a lab, as soon as
he lets out his hound dog howl, there's no question he's a hound. A
good example would be just last night..we live in a 100-year-old farm
house, so occasionally, a red squirrel will find his way in between
the walls to escape the cold. Well, at 2:15am, Dex had followed the
scratching noise to our bedroom, at which point he decided to let us
know he heard something by bellowing a 100-pound hound dog howl. Talk
about a rude awakening!!
He loves to play in the snow and chase snowballs thrown in the air,
but his favorite pastime is swimming. He has huge webbed feet and is
an excellent swimmer. There is a small local park on the Saco river two
miles from the house. In the summer, we are there almost every day.
He loves to have children splash water at him, or if we're alone, he
will splash water with is front paws then jump into the air chasing
the splash. My wife keeps saying we should send a video to America's
funniest home videos.
PS: Dexter wanted me to remind you that he also attended obedience
school and graduated "Chewa Sum Louda."
