About Us
Kita, the Dog of the Day
Name: Kita
Age: One year and four months old
Gender: Female Breed: Akita, Lab Mix
Home: Texas, USA

I am Kita, a mix of Akita and Lab. I live in Texas with my deaf owner. I looked like an Akita but I am small, I weigh only 53 pounds. Yes, I am big like Xena. What make me special to her the deaf owner? Umm... Let me tell you the story. I was adopted by her from Human Society when I was six months old. The lady who supposed to adopt me never picked me up. Then the deaf lady who is my owner now picked me up later that day. Thank God! She almost missed me in the cage. She didn't see me until from far she saw my beautiful eyes which drew her to see me and fall in love with me. She thinks I am the most beautiful mutt she ever saw in her life.

I also knew a few sign language that my deaf owner taught me to do some trick and when I need to go out to take a leak. I walked up to her and back to the door and she signed bathroom and I wagged my tail to let her know that is it. I know sign for sit, down, bang (I play dead), friend (I give her a hand shake), ball (that is one of my favorite things especially when she puts a treat in my kong ball), and hug (I would get up and she will hug me). Ohh... I can get a treat only if I can get it out of the ball.

I am soooo happy and love my master. I love when she took me to ride and going to her dad's (my grandfather) big land where I can roam around with my two dogs friends. I love to go into the lake or water puddles there. I don't mind getting dirty. I know sometimes I can be stubborn but she always loves me. I felt soo safe when I am with her so does she when she is with me. Sometimes I alert her to things around the house so she will check on it and make sure everything is ok. I like to help her lots. I love my master very much.

What makes Kita so special to me? There are many things I love to do and so does she. She goes with me anywhere, whatever I do. She had never been in a canoe, I put her in it and she was, of course, nervous about it and thought "What was that!" But she went along and enjoyed the ride in the canoe. I went to the lake, she absolutely loves to go there. As soon as she sees water, she just goes for it. At my dad's land there are so many muddy puddles she just go for it and walk through and drink water from there. I thought "Oh No! It is gross!" I guess she just enjoyed it very much! She is an adventure dog! That what I love about Kita.
