Molly
is special because as she has gotten older, she has gotten more
playful. For example, when Molly gets excited, she springs (hence the
name "springer spaniel"). When she was younger she could
spring higher and faster, but now it has turned into a couple little
jumps and a roll in the grass that ends with her tail-wagging bottom
sticking up in the air.
She also goes crazy - wagging her tail, whining and barking - when my
mom stands in front of her and dances around. And every time one of
us touches her red leash she knows she's about to go on a walk -- so
if we have to tie our shoes before we go, she gets impatient and
whines and nudges us with her nose. Molly was so affectionate with
our cat, Muffin, who died four years ago. She would try to cuddle up
with her in her bed and just smiled as Muffin growled and hissed at
her. When Muffin died, Molly went through a depression, and stayed
very close to Muffin's bed.
She also loves to swim in lakes, and when she was younger, our dad
had to jump in to rescue her because she was too tired to swim to
shore. She is also very protective and for some reason, hates
delivery trucks. Maybe it's because she somehow knows that one of her
puppies was hit by a UPS truck. Molly is unlike any other dog we've
ever had, and unlike any other Springer we've ever known. She has a
personality like a human, and I think, that after being with us for
so long, she just might be.
