About Us
Indigo Skye, Cheyenne, the Dog of the Day
Name: Indigo Skye, Cheyenne
Age: Two and a half years old,
Six months old
Gender: Female Breed: Australian Shepherd
Home: Palatine, Illinois, USA

These are my two girls. The older is two and a half years old - her name is Indigo Skye and she is an Australian Shepherd, blue merle with copper trim - marble eyes brown/green with blue flecks. She is beautiful!!! Indi came from a puppy mill, and was quite a handful. She was not socialized at all and afraid of people - especially men - now she is daddy's girl!

Indigo has had to learn all about what it means to learn "around" her disabilities - and that has not always been easy. I am disabled with a very rare illness, and at age 29, sometimes it is hard to get out of bed! Indi (and now her sister) provide me with so much love that every day is great - even when I feel horrible! Indigo is from a "merle-to-merle" breeding - which can cause problems in the litter - and she has worked hard and is still working at being the best girl she can be!

Our love for her is what prompted us to adopt her sister, Cheyenne Brooke, from the Painted Rose Ranch, this year. We heard that the woman there had cancer and needed good homes for her puppies - and we knew that Indigo needed a playmate - so it seemed the right thing for all of us - so Cheyenne came here to make our home complete! Cheyenne is also an Australian Shepherd, red merle with copper trim, and green/blue/hazel eyes - and her daddy is quite the champ!!!

Cheyenne and Indigo plan to work on being half of a flyball team - although at this point - Indigo chases the ball, and Cheyenne chases her!!! They are beautiful and wonderful - but most of all - they are my babies! Since we can't have children - we want to make a special home for our girls...they sit on the couch - but they know "off" if need be - and they work well together in training! We are proud of our little girls - and love them with all of our hearts! They really keep me alive!!!
