Although
Roscoe is recently deceased, he was and is very dear to our
family. He was a truly terrific dog in that he did everything. He
helped teach me to walk, and was like a brother to me. He and I often
got into trouble together and shared many a box of Cheerio's in our
younger days. He was four months older than me. When I was an infant,
he would wedge his nose in between the slats of my crib and lick me,
sniff me, and he got worried if I cried.
He enjoyed walks around the yard, laying in my beanbag, Fruit Loops,
People Crackers, human food of almost any kind (except vegetables!),
and attention.
Some of his best friends were our barn cats and although we have
several horses at home, he only liked one of them, TylerLeo. If
Roscoe was not feeling well and we let one of the cats in and they would
curl up together. They were buddies and I'm sure all of them will
miss him dearly, as we will. This whole scenario is new to me, he was
our only "house" pet and my first and only dog. I don't
know what I would have done without him sometimes. Roscoe passed away
July 1,1998. Please don't think of him as a dog, or even a pet, think
of him as a friend.
