Kess, the Dog of the Day
Name: Kess
Age: Four years old
Gender: Female Breed: Great Dane
Home: Salem, Massachusetts, USA

Kess turned four years old on February 6, 1999. She is a black Great Dane and lives in Salem, Massachusetts. She thinks she's a lapdog, and she's my soul savior. She's very protective of me, so she may not appear to strangers to be the big baby of a cuddle bear that she is.

She enjoys eating, preferably people food, though she doesn't get it too often. She likes playing with the neighbor dogs, and yes, running like she's lost her mind! The two dogs usually gang up on her when they're playing, but she holds her own. She likes playing with her toys, although sometimes she gets carried away and they have to go on the disabled list until I can sew them up. She loves any kind of dog treat, but it continues to amaze me how fast she can make a pig ear disappear. She likes to watch Scooby Doo while I'm getting ready in the mornings, and for some reason, she is always entranced by a local cable show about the Salem, MA police department. She likes to give hugs up on her hind legs, and dance that way too. She also seems to enjoy sleeping a lot.

My family had a Dane when I was growing up, and I just loved her so much. She was black like Kess, but with more white on her chest and feet, and she was a lot more mellow. Kess is a lot more hyper, but she's mellowing out as time goes by. She's moody but I can usually predict when she'll want to play or cuddle. We just had a snowstorm here (she loves snow!) and she got to play one of her favorite games "catch the snowball." She's wonderful and she's really been my savior and my best friend. I can't imagine having had to go through the last few years without her.

She even has her own homepage.
