Max
was adopted from the Toronto Humane Society on January 25, 1995.
He was an unruly chap of seven months at the time, and at 80 pounds,
quite a challenge to manage. After some growing pains, and lots of
training (on both our parts), counseling from our vet, and I guess
the miracle of him just growing-up, he's become more of the dog we've
always hoped he'd be. Throughout the difficult times, we held close
the fact that he had a wonderful temperament, and that he didn't
deserve to be cast-off once again. As always, perseverance and
patience were rewarded in the end!
Max loves to play ball, chase birds in his yard, and go on long walks
in his neighborhood. He's very eager to please, and loves his family
very much. He's also learned to love the newest member of our family:
our cat, Nikki (an adopted domestic short hair). Although Max has
settled down quite a bit, he still has the exuberant nature common to
his breeds. Now that we're used to each other, we've been able to
find much joy in his boisterous personality, but to be sure, these
breeds are not meant for couch potatoes or those requiring peace and
quiet in their homes.
We consider ourselves very lucky to have two such wonderful furry
members of our family! Now all we need is another dog and cat so that
Max and Nikki can play with friends of their own species... one day
I'll sneak them past my husband!
