Oskar
and Holle are from different litters. They have the same mother
but different fathers. They've both had their share of health
problems over the last two years. Oskar had surgery to correct
bilateral elbow dysplasia and Holle is highly allergic to many types
of dog food. After surgery, allergy tests, and many visits to the
vet, they are enjoying life. They have been extremely healthy and we
are so grateful to have them with us. Most of all, they are two of
the most lovable pals. Holle is the black shepherd and Osk is the
sable. He's considerably larger than Holle.
Holle is definitely in charge in our house. We refer to her as the
enforcer. She's been known to scale our kitchen gate to chase our
kitty if she's getting into trouble, digging plants or knocking
things off tables or counters. On the other hand, she absolutely
loves people and children and is extremely loving and faithful. Holle
has a mind of her own and can be a bit stubborn at times. Her
favorite activities include walking, chasing sticks, eating grass,
digging huge holes throughout our four acres, playing under the hose
sprinkler and riding in our car.
Oskar is also quite loving and he is extraordinarily obedient. It's
ironic how one pup can be such a big baby, whining and howling when
we leave the house or go to the vet and yet at the same time be such
a wonderful watch dog. He's a very kind and loving dog with superior
intelligence. He was bred for police work and has extremely keen
senses. We are truly blessed to have such great pets. One interesting
note, he has this fascination with our cat, Ginger. He will sit and
stare at kitty for hours, licking and resting his huge face on her
body. She isn't thrilled with his infatuation but tolerates him.
Unfortunately, Oskar enjoys chasing birds and squirrels (sorry bird
lovers). He also enjoys long walks in the woods, swimming in our pool
and creek, and chasing sticks.
