About Us
Casey, the Dog of the Day
Name: Casey
Age: Six years old
Gender: Female Breed: Blue Tick Hound
Home: Homosassa, Florida, USA

Casey is a very special member of the family because she wandered into my parents garage one afternoon looking like a skeleton. She was very cautious and kept her distance at first but when offered some food she finally gave in and did eat. Upon looking at her closer we noticed that her throat had been cut from ear to ear and completely down to the windpipe. It had been that way for several days because it was not even bleeding anymore. We took her to the vet and he cleaned up the wound and told us to apply betadine to it twice a day for two weeks and bring her back. When we took her back he began to sew up the wound a little at a time and did this over several visits.

Today it is impossible to find the wound and she has been the best and most loving little dog that my folks have ever had. She love to run and to be chased around the yard and would do it for hours if we didn't give out first. She was most likely a hunting dog that was afraid of the guns so the former owner just cut her throat to get rid of her. It was really his loss because she is a true lady of refinement and a real lover of humans in spite of it all.
