Almost
seven years ago, Max came to my door on a cold, rainy night. I
had just gotten home from night school and the Golden Retriever that
we had at the time kept going to the front door, crying and sniffing.
When I looked out the peephole the first time, I couldn't see
anything. The second time I looked out the window and saw this small,
soaking wet puppy at our door. I grabbed a towel, opened the door,
picked her up and dried her off. One of the things I noticed about
Max from the start was how she just seemed to be so appreciative to
be taken in. I gave her some food and water, played with her for a
little while and made a little sleeping area for her in our bathroom.
Usually puppies cry when you leave them alone, but she never made a
sound. No one claimed her, so I kept her. Since then, we've gone
through a lot together. I couldn't ask for a better friend.
