Dexter
is one cool dog! He's an entertainer, companion and protector all
wrapped up in one cute and cuddly canine. Among the many things that
make Dexter special are:
His Appearance: We suspect Dexter is part Retriever and part Shar-Pei,
which has resulted in an unusually cute appearance. At 50+ pounds, he is
a bit short, but a very sturdy and strong little powerhouse. Although
his short legs may leave him a little vulnerable in the water, they
carry him swiftly on land where he is very very fast. He has soft,
velvety ears; angel-wing markings on his back; and a distinctive spotted
tongue. We constantly tell Dexter how adorable he is and he occasionally
even admires himself in the mirror.
His Energy: Definitely on the energetic side, he loves to play ball, run
around, play ball, go for long walks, play ball, go for drives, play
ball, visit Bud and Kodie (his canine Uncle and Cousin), and most of
all, Dexter loves to play ball.
His Persistence: Dexter would really like it if his feline relatives
(Honey and Fraidy Cat) would be a little more approachable, and although
his attempts to get acquainted usually end in defeat, with his head
hanging low and an occasional bloody nose, he never quits trying to gain
their friendship.
His Favorite Snack: Fruits and vegetables are good to munch on, but his
favorite snack is anything dairy - milk, ice cream, pudding, yogurt, you
name it! Dexter can be very demanding around dairy products and he fully
expects his own serving, but will settle for a bite.
His Intelligence: Dexter is very smart and since we adopted him on
3/13/99, he has learned to sit, lie down, speak, roll over, shake, give
kisses, give hugs, and high five. Dexter's keywords are: Go, Walk, Car,
Ride, Nite-Nite, Brandon, Gramma, Uncle Bud, Kodie, and of course
"Ball" and "Milk!" Dexter provides us with endless
entertainment and unconditional love. Dexter rules!
