This
is my American Cocker Spaniel, Chamois. She is now about ten years
old though neither of us know for sure since she was a stray. (Like all
ladies, she isn't giving her real age out, the vet just guess-timated.)
She was adopted from Citizens for Animal Protection. I saw her on a day
when CAP had their "babies" up for adoption at my local
PetsMart in Houston, TX. I just fell in love with her. I came up with
the name because she was the same color as the chamois I use on my car.
I told her that if she didn't work out, I could always skin her and use
her on the car - all in fun mind you! She cocked her head like she
understood every word I said, and she has been a wonderful companion.
She loves cats (she has two cat siblings) but doesn't much care for
other dogs. She was so dog aggressive that I had to take her to
obedience school. We both graduated and became much closer because of
the classes. She still prefers people or cats to dogs, but she doesn't
try to attack every other dog that happens to walk by the yard. I have
her Canine Good Citizen diploma hung in a place of honor in my home.
This is her "boudoir picture" - she is laying on a feather boa
and the photographer took off her collar so she's naked!
