Bandit, the Dog of the Day
Name: Bandit
Age: Seven years old
Gender: Male Breed: Miniature Pinscher
Home: Seattle, Washington, USA

I am Bandit, nicknamed "Dig". I am seven years old and I love my family very much. I am a Miniature Pinscher. I live near Seattle, Washington, and this is my story. Last week my human Dad had to go under the house into our crawl space to put down a big sheet of plastic. It was very dark down there with not much room to get around. My Dad went down there with a light on a long extension cord. Dad was down there only for about 15 minutes when I heard him call for my human Mom. I knew something was wrong. Mom came running out and found out that Dads light bulb burned out. Dad was in the far corner and could not see anything because it was so dark. I know Dad must have been scared. My Mom said to me "Bandit" you have to go save Dad. I barked. Mom put a collar on me and put a big flashlight onto my collar and turned it on. I could barely walk. She put me down in the opening of the crawl space and said to me "Bandit, go save dad" But the flashlight was so big I was tripping on it and it was dark and creepy down there too! Dad was calling me "Dig, Dig, come! help me Dig, bring me the light Dig!" I tried walking, then I knew I had to save my Dad. He needed me. So I walked toward his voice. There were big holes and pipes and insulation everywhere. There was one big pipe that I tried to climb over but the flashlight kept getting stuck on it. Dad could see the light. He crawled a little closer to me and reached out and helped me over the pipe. Dad was so happy. He said "Good boy dig, you saved me, good job" He petted me and hugged me. I knew that Dad was ok now, but I thought I better stay down there to make sure he was ok. We stayed together for the rest of the job. Everything was ok now. I got lots of kisses and hugs from everyone when I came out.
