This
is Sable, or as some people prefer to call her, the "Sable
Lady". Sable is a seven year old, female Greyhound. Sable nows
lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with me and my two other dogs. I
have been fortunate enough to have been able to "rescue" Sable
twice. The first time was from a race track in New Hampshire through the
help of the National Greyhound Adoption Program (NGAP) four years ago.
The second time was just this past year when Sable was struck with a
rare immune disease called immuno-mediated thrombocytopenia. After a
long hospital stay, some chemotherapy, and an additional seven months of
drug therapy, Sable was declared disease free. I know that I am very
lucky to still have the wonderful "Sable Lady" with me. And I
will never be able to express how thankful I am to all those who helped
her to survive.
