Shadow
was purchased from the pound for my birthday. He was terrified of
everything but he followed me around like my shadow (Hence his name).
When my son would come to visit he was always excited. When my husband
came home he'd jump for joy. He was a runner. When he'd get a chance to
get out of the gate he'd be gone. But if you chased after him he'd go
blindly away, but if you sat on the ground he would come to you to make
sure you weren't hurt. We went through obedience school and he did well
as long as the leash is on him. Without it, he still runs.
When my husband retired Shadow became his dog. But he has recently
passed away. Shadow roams the house a lot trying to find my husband but
he doesn't stop loving my daughter and I. He lays beside us when we are
upset or not feeling well and greets us excitingly when we return. Even
though I believe he could still be a runner, twice the side gate has
been left open where he could escape and he just lets us know it is
opened. He is special, he is family.
