About Us
Carina, the Dog of the Day
Name: Carina
Age: Seven years old
Gender: Female Breed: Golden Retriever
Home: Connecticut, USA

Hello, my name is Carina, which means "little darling" in Italian. That was the name that came to my owner's mind as soon as she saw me. I was six-months old when I was brought from New Jersey, where I lived with my Golden parents, uncles, aunts and cousins, to Connecticut. Before I left my place of birth, I went to every single one of my relatives to say goodbye. My manners were impeccable even when I was a puppy. Ever since I arrived, I have been a constant companion to my "house mate". We go for walks, play ball in the back yard, work in the garden, and ride in the car to run errands. All of that is fun. However, I am really a couch potato, and I have many couches where I am allowed to take a nap. I'm even allowed to sleep on my mom's bed, at least until she is ready to turn the light off for the night, then I go to my own bed next to hers. I also take a long nap while she does her volunteer work for Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue. She is in charge of writing all the "thank you" notes to the wonderful people who send donations to support the activities of this rescue organization. You would think that she has a special place in her heart for my breed. And she does, I am her third Golden... I am special for many reasons, the first one is that I came just three weeks after the previous Golden died and was able to fill the great void that she had left. Besides, I don't jump on people, I greet everybody with a big smile, I like to be brushed and don't even mind to have my ears cleaned. Having a bath is another story... I never bark, which, of course, does not make me a great watchdog, but I am so good and beautiful that this is not considered a shortcoming in this household. I only growl a bit when the telephone rings and disturbs my sleep, but I suppose it is a small inconvenience compared to the good life I have.
