Rainy
is a ten-year-old Australian Blue Heeler-Beagle mix. We don't see
the Beagle in her. She thinks rabbits are only slightly interesting, and
she doesn't seem to be able to smell where they've walked.
She is the smartest dog, but has peculiar (dingo?) traits. She's very
particular about who she accepts as "one of the pack." She
often stops mid-stride in the funniest positions (must be a throw-back
to her shepherd breeding). Her proudest moment is when she runs and cuts
through the backyard. She likes to hear us make comments about how fast
she is. You can tell because she seems to show off her speed right in
front of us.
Rainy Rooney (as we sometimes call her) enjoys a carrot every day. She's
also addressed as "Rainy Roo," "Teppers" or
"Sweetie Butt." While her big sister is off at college, she
has a futon and two pillows to herself where she likes to spend most of
her day.
